TimberRaven Launches Armed Citizen Trauma Response Clinics Across Utah

By TimberRaven Critical Response LLC on

TimberRaven Critical Response expands into classroom-based trauma training with new Armed Citizen Trauma Response clinics launching June 2026 at five Utah locations.

At TimberRaven Critical Response, we've built our reputation on hands-on, environment-specific medical training conducted deep in the backcountry — because the skills you need when help is hours away are best learned in the places where help is hours away. Now, we're expanding that philosophy into a new venue, with a new mission: preparing armed citizens to save lives when seconds count.

Introducing the Armed Citizen Trauma Response™ Clinic Series

Starting June 17, 2026, TimberRaven will launch a brand-new clinic series with our flagship Armed Citizen Trauma Response™ course. This two-hour intensive clinic marks our first foray into traditional classroom-based instruction, but make no mistake — this is not your standard sit-and-listen certification course.

We're partnering with Tactical Penguin Gun Ranges to bring this training to five locations across Utah:

  • Tooele
  • Riverdale
  • Orem
  • Layton
  • Midvale

Each location offers a controlled, professional environment uniquely suited to the realities this course addresses — because the audience we're training is, by definition, present in places where critical injuries from gunfire can occur.

Why a Classroom Clinic? Why Now?

For years, our medical curriculum has centered on wilderness first-aid, austere medicine, and backcountry skills built for hunters, overlanders, and first responders operating far from definitive care. Those clinics will continue — they're core to who we are.

But there's another reality we can't ignore: the armed citizen — concealed carriers, range users, and ordinary people who find themselves in extraordinary moments — often carries the tools to stop a threat without carrying the tools or knowledge to save a life afterward. Whether the emergency is an accidental discharge at the range, a hunting accident, a vehicle collision, or an active threat scenario, uncontrolled bleeding is the leading cause of preventable death in traumatic injury.

If you're prepared to take a life in defense of innocent life, you should be equally prepared to preserve one.

What "Visceral and Immersive" Looks Like in a Classroom

This is no American Red Cross-style academic walkthrough. In true TimberRaven fashion, we're bringing the chaos, pressure, and realism of the field into a controlled training space. Students should expect to get their hands dirty — literally.

Military-Grade Bleeding Simulators

Our instructors use professional-grade trauma simulators designed to replicate the look, feel, and behavior of real wounds. You'll work on devices that pulse, bleed, and respond to your interventions the way human tissue does — not on static foam blocks.

TruClot™ Blood Simulant

We use TruClot™ blood simulant to replicate arterial bleeding, giving students authentic visual and tactile feedback as they apply pressure, pack wounds, and place tourniquets. There is no substitute for the moment you realize how fast a life can drain away — and how decisively you must act to stop it.

Low-Light and No-Light Scenarios

Real emergencies don't wait for daylight. Students will practice bleeding control in both lighted and dark conditions, learning to identify, isolate, and treat arterial bleeds when visibility is compromised. This is a critical skill rarely addressed in traditional civilian trauma courses.

Built on the DoD's TCCC Curriculum

The Armed Citizen Trauma Response™ course is a civilian adaptation of the Department of Defense's Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) curriculum — the same evidence-based protocols used to rapidly up-train soldiers in life-saving bleed control before deployment. TCCC has been credited with saving thousands of lives on the battlefield, and its core principles translate directly to civilian trauma response.

We've adapted the most relevant components for the armed citizen, focusing on:

  • Massive hemorrhage identification and control
  • Proper tourniquet application — placement, pressure, and timing
  • Wound packing for junctional and extremity injuries
  • Pressure dressings and hemostatic agents
  • Scene safety and threat assessment in active environments
  • Casualty handoff and communication with EMS and law enforcement

What You'll Walk Away With

Successful completion of the Armed Citizen Trauma Response™ clinic earns students:

  • DoD-endorsed Stop The Bleed™ certification — a nationally recognized credential
  • TimberRaven Armed Citizen Trauma Response certification and ID card
  • The confidence, muscle memory, and decision-making framework to take control of a worst-case scenario

More than a certificate, you'll leave with the mindset of someone who knows what to do when everyone else freezes. That mindset is the single most valuable thing we teach.

Who Should Take This Course?

The Armed Citizen Trauma Response™ clinic is built for:

  • Concealed carry permit holders
  • Regular range users and competitive shooters
  • Hunters and guides
  • Security professionals and off-duty law enforcement
  • Anyone who believes personal responsibility doesn't stop at self-defense

No prior medical training is required. No firearms are used during instruction — this is a medical course built for the armed community, not a shooting course.

Reserve Your Spot

Seats in our launch clinics are limited, and we expect demand to fill the queue quickly. The June 17, 2026 kickoff is just the beginning — additional dates will roll out across all five Utah locations through the rest of the year.

The skills taught in this clinic are the difference between watching a tragedy unfold and changing its outcome. If you carry the means to defend life, train to preserve it. We'll see you in the classroom.
