Self-Sufficient.
Prepared.
Unstoppable.

TimberRaven Critical Response LLC was founded on a single truth: help doesn't always come fast enough in the backcountry. Whether you're deep in the Uintas, crawling the Moab slickrock, or hunting Utah's West Desert, the time between an incident and professional help can mean everything.

Our clinics bridge that gap. We train you to act decisively, manage stress under pressure, and apply verified wilderness medical techniques — day or night, in any conditions.

Practical Skills First

No classrooms-only theory. Every skill is tested in actual Utah backcountry conditions including stress scenarios, low-light environments, and remote terrain.

Built for the Backcountry

Our curriculum is designed specifically for overlanders, hunters, and off-road adventurers — not hospital corridors. You train where you'll need these skills.

Elite Instructor Ratio

With a maximum of 5 students per class, you get hands-on attention from certified first responders who have operated in real-world emergency situations.

The Backcountry
Doesn't Call 911
For You

Every overlander, hunter, and off-road driver eventually faces an unplanned situation. The question isn't if — it's whether you'll be ready when it happens.

Save a Life

In remote terrain, professional help can be hours away. Your training is the difference between an injury and a fatality.

Recover Your Vehicle

Get unstuck without waiting for a tow that may never come. Know how to use the gear you already carry.

Manage Stress Under Pressure

Emergencies trigger panic. We train your brain and body to stay clear and effective when it matters.

Day & Night Competency

Most incidents happen at dusk or in darkness. Our clinics include night-time assessments and low-light drills.

Earn Real Certifications

Advanced students leave with nationally recognized wilderness medicine credentials, not just a participation certificate.

Go Farther With Confidence

Self-sufficiency unlocks harder routes, longer trips, and more remote destinations when you know you can handle what comes.

Utah mountain landscape - Uinta range

Utah's Best Backcountry

Uinta Mountains. West Desert. Moab canyon country. We train where the terrain is real, the stakes are real, and your skills will be tested as they would on any trip you take.

Who've Done It For Real

Our founder and lead instructor is a former Utah Search and Rescue first-responder, certified EMT, firefighter and US Army veteran who has responded to real emergencies in austere terrain, including the same Utah backcountry roads you drive.

Every instructor we bring into the field holds active or former first-responder certification. That's not a preference — it's our standard.

What Students Say

"I've been off-roading for years and thought I knew what I was doing. TimberRaven showed me exactly how wrong I was about medical response. The night scenario alone was worth every penny."

Marcus T.
Marcus T.
Overlander — Moab regular

"Going out solo in the West Desert used to make me nervous. After the backcountry medical cert, I actually feel prepared. The instructors are legit — these are real first responders who have seen real emergencies."

Sarah K.

Hunter & backcountry camper

"We took the vehicle recovery clinic as a couple. Best decision we made before our month-long overland. Got stuck twice. Self-recovered both times in under 20 minutes. Zero panic."

Dave & Lena R.

Overlanding couple — Utah/Nevada

"I booked the clinic for our trail leader group. The stress management component was unexpected and incredibly valuable. When someone goes down on a trail, panic is the enemy. Now our whole team knows how to handle it."

Frequently Asked Questions

No experience is required for any of our clinics. Our Off-Road Driving 101 and Vehicle Recovery clinics start from zero. The Backcountry Medical Certification is designed for all levels — beginners will learn everything from scratch, while experienced students will deepen and validate their skills.

Any modern, reliable 4x4 vehicle will work for all of our clinics. People are often surprised how capable a stock 4WD is with proper fundamental driving skills — which we will happily teach you.

Note: Our Moab Overland Tour and Moab Helicopter Assault Tours require a dependable vehicle with a low-range transfer case and a minimum of 32" tires. A locker is highly recommended but not required.

Because quality instruction in a backcountry environment requires individual attention. We don't run large groups through a set script — we adapt to each student's pace, comfort level, and learning style. The 5-student cap is non-negotiable and core to our philosophy.

The Backcountry Medical Certification clinic offers Wilderness First Aid (WFA) for the standard 3-day program, and Wilderness First Responder (WFR) for advanced students. These are nationally recognized credentials. Vehicle Recovery and Off-Road Driving 101 are skills-based clinics and do not include formal certification.

For vehicle-based clinics, bring your own overland vehicle. You'll learn on what you drive. For the medical clinic, we provide all training equipment including training manikins, trauma supplies, and reference materials. A gear checklist will be provided upon registration.

Clinics rotate between Utah terrain including the Uinta Mountains, the West Desert, and occasionally Moab canyon country. Exact locations are confirmed upon registration. All locations are accessible by standard overland vehicles.

Yes. We accommodate private groups for hunting parties, jeep clubs, corporate team-building, and family sessions. Contact us directly to discuss scheduling and custom curriculum. All private sessions still maintain the 5-student maximum per instructor.

We understand plans change. Cancellations 30+ days before your clinic receive a full refund. Within 30 days, you may transfer to a future session at no charge. Within 7 days, we offer a credit for a future clinic. Full details provided at booking.
