Backcountry First-Aid Advanced
Find the basecamp. Earn the patch. Come home prepared.
Overview
To earn the TimberRaven Backcountry First-Responder certification and patch, students attend an intense, real-world 2-day, 1-night clinic and pass hands-on practical tests deep in Utah's backcountry. The adventure begins at dawn on Day 1 — you'll use your own 4x4 and land navigation skills to locate our temporary clinic basecamp, set up somewhere in the Utah wilderness. Our training basecamp vehicle is equipped with state-of-the-art medical training equipment, solar power, satellite communications, and everything needed to ensure a safe and fully-equipped "classroom" experience in the exact remote environment where you'll one day use these skills.

Day 1 Evening
The Night Op
How It Works
Mount our provided side-by-side and run a timed night course — adrenaline engaged.
Arrive at the staged scene. Injured manikin. Headlamps on. Clock running.
Apply full protocol on a high-fidelity bleeding manikin using headlamps and scene lights only.
Receive your time, score, and detailed instructor debrief.
Scores are personal. The timing exists to create real pressure — the same pressure you'd feel in an actual emergency. Share yours or keep it to yourself; the only competition is with your own nerves.
Day 2 Morning — Overland Context & Musculoskeletal
- CPR/STB review in real overland scenarios
